During the pandemic I decided to really lean into fun. I decided to begin my lessons with fun Would you Rather questions and end my lessons with different guess the book games. One of the first book games I tried was Book Emojis. I had seen a few people share a handful of book emoji clues. I decided to create my own and share it on TPT. I have picture book emojis and chapter book emojis. My collections include classic children's literature and newer titles as well.

You can take a big chunk of time and try all of the puzzles in one sitting, or sprinkle in 3-5 puzzles each week.
I find it interesting to see which clues my students can guess right away, and which ones are a challenge. Sometimes they think about it too literally. In the example below I had students guessing, "girl, heart, cupcakes. girl loves cupcakes?" It can be tricky to get them to think about what story it could be. My students really enjoy this challenge and I hope yours do too!
